Program Cost Assistance

Illinois provides a variety of options to make education more affordable for veterans and government employees.

The Illinois Veterans’ Grant (IVG) can be used to cover program cost.

In addition, the Upward Mobility Program (UMP) supports career advancement for State employees represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This program offers tuition assistance, paid time off for classes and testing, and enhanced opportunities when applying for targeted job titles.

The National Certified Public Manager Consortium’s Education Foundation also offers scholarships and program awards.

For those who may not qualify for grants or who still face additional expenses, the Illinois CPM program offers payment plan options. These plans allow students to spread their program costs across monthly installments over the course of the semester, rather than paying in full at the start. Payment plans can provide added flexibility and make budgeting for education more manageable.

We are continuously adding resources to this page to help reduce financial barriers for Illinois public sector employees interested in the CPM program. For questions, email cpmillinois@uic.edu.
