Contributing Factors to Water Act Noncompliance
Noncompliance
The GFRC, in partnership with faculty and doctoral students from the School of Engineering at Tufts University, completed a project commissioned by the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance examining various factors contributing to noncompliance with federal health and safety regulations for drinking water and wastewater systems. The first report examined all 44,481 community water systems throughout the US, using newly updated service area geographical boundaries defined by the US EPA. The second report examined all 13,548 publicly owned treatment works nationwide with available compliance information.
